American Staffordshire Terrier - Copper - Large - Adult - Male
COPPER has a resilient and enduring spirit. He was rescued about a year ago from a situation in which he existed on the end of a chain, unable to stand or walk. He was obviously malnourished, lacked muscle tone, and had significant infections due to his lack of mobility. COPPER was paralyzed in his rear legs most likely due to lower back disc disease or embolism along his spinal cord. COPPER was treated medically to reduce suspected inflammation and to clear the infections he had. He was also treated for heartworm infection. Over the past year, he has received physical rehabilitation to regain strength, mobility and balance. He has worked very hard and has come a long way. A vet began fostering him so that she could work with him daily and closely oversee his progress. With things like laser therapy, underwater treadmill, and many exercises (and lots of love) COPPER has significantly progressed. He is walking now and even running! He is able to maneuver up and down a short set of stairs with just a little guidance. He loves to practice running in the open yard. COPPER is resilient and always loving. He's great with kids. He's very strong now as well as very spirited! He has his own Facebook page put together by his rescuer, Jessica Allday. It's called "Copper's March For Mobility."
